Tara Furr, Pre- Kindergarten Teacher & Owner
Ms Tara began student teaching at age 14 through Quincy High School's Early Childhood Education program. She is now Director Qualified. Tara is taking courses to finish her Early Childhood Associates Degree at Mount Wachusett Community College. Tara has been a resident of Templeton, Massachusetts since 2001. She is a parent of a 3 children one of which works in the center and two who attend the academy. She has worked with children ages 4 weeks through 6 years. She has worked in daycare centers and elementary schools in Quincy and Fitchburg. She now works with children ages 4 weeks through 14 years here at First Years Academy.
Julie Roberts, Kindergarten Teacher
Julie is the kindergarten teacher at First Years Academy. She has worked in the field of Early Childhood Education for over 10 years. Julie has taken numerous courses in Early Childhood. She is lead teacher certified for infants through pre-kindergarten as well as director qualified. Julie is a mother of twins whom are 11 years old. Prior to working in a center based setting she worked from home caring for children. Julie really enjoys working with children and watching them grow and develop through out the year.
Leanne Gauthier, Toddler Teacher
Leanne is currently working as a teacher in the toddler classroom. She is married with one son who has been at First Years Academy since it's opening. Leanne carrries our Serve Safe certificate and is working on her human services degree at MWCC. She looks forward to a long career in childcare.
Jane Erickson, Younger School-Age Teacher & Floater
Jane has her Bachelor's Degree from Gordon College in Early Childhood Education. She has worked with children ages 3 through Elementary school. Currently, she teaches 1st grade and joins us for our after school program.
Brian Furr, Preschool Assistant Teacher & School Age Group Leader
Brian is a senior at Narragansett Regional High School and the grounds keeper and an assistant teacher here in the afternoons on work release. Brian has been a long time member of the Boy Scouts of America troop 27 in East Templeton where he helps with food drives and being a community helper. Along with the other teaching staff, Brian is CPR and First Aid certified. He attends yearly teacher trainings to increase his knowledge of educating children in the fields of Science, Arts, Language and Math. His passion is playing outside and teaching the children sports he loves like soccer, baseball and basketball. Brian has two younger siblings who attend First Years Academy. Brian hopes to become a physical education teacher at the elementary level and knows that working with children this age is great experience for his goals to become a P.E. Teacher.
Jamie Furr, School Age Lead Teacher
Jamie is began working at First Years Academy beginning with our renovations from home to child care center and has helped in every age group since 2005 when we opened. She is a proud mother of 12 year old boy and a Micro preemie whom is home and doing very well. Jamie has just been accepted to Mount Wachusett Community College and will begin classes next semester.
Erin Sweeney, Preschool Teacher
My name is Erin Sweeney and I am the preschool teacher here at First Years Academy. I have an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education and an Associates Degree in Human Services. I have been working here for over a year and get great enjoyment out of my job.
Heather Morrow, Infants & Toddlers Assistant Teacher
I am currently in school for cosmetology fulfilling one of my passions, I am also enrolled in a few classes at the Mount. I love children and one day would love to become a teacher. Currently I am working part time in the Infant & Toddler classroom and I love every moment of it. On the side I love to go horse back riding and relax with friends and family.
Cambri Hazard, Infant Room Teacher
My name is Cambri and I work in the infant room. I have worked with Infants for four years and really enjoy it. I am working on my degree for early childhood education and plan to work in the public schools as a first grade teacher. I am 22 years young and have a son, Jordan who is in the toddler room.
